NEWSLETTER July, 2003
BRUSH PICKUP:
The Village has recently purchased a used Brush Chipper which will now allow us to do curb side brush chipping as opposed to handling the limbs two or three times. Due to this capability, we are now going to establish the following schedule and rules for brush pickup which will go in effect July 7th. · We will pickup brush on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. If the weather is bad or other projects dont allow us to get around that day, we will plan to be there the following day. · The Village will no longer have a brush pile behind the Street Dept. Building. Please do not drop off brush keep it until the next scheduled brush pickup day. Thank You! · Please remember to break up the smaller sticks and place them in garbage or yard waste bags whenever possible. · We, as a rule, are not responsible to cut up bigger branches. You must take care of this prior to putting it out by the curb. If too large, the Village will not be able to pick up the brush. · Do not use this service to put out your leaves, grass clippings, shrubs, plants, flowers, fruits, acorns, walnuts, etc. These items will not be picked up! This is meant for the larger pieces of limbs and brush only. Whenever possible, all other items should be placed in yard waste bags.
TREE & BUSH TRIMMING:
The Village would like to remind all homeowners that have trees or bushes with branches hanging down over a street, alley or sidewalk to please keep them trimmed. All trees next to the street or alley must be trimmed to allow for a minimum of 10 feet of clearance right above the curb or road edge. Also, be sure your trees do not block any portion of the view of a stop sign. As for the sidewalk area, please allow for people to utilize the walks without branches hanging down in their faces creating a safety hazard. Please take this opportunity to check your trees and bushes and do whatever trimming is necessary as we will be making the rounds here shortly to monitor and trim as needed.
MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
The Village has a few summer projects in the works. These include the Center Street Reconstruction Project between Main and Wayne Streets. This work will be completed during July and August and will include the first replacement of the street lights with street lamps. Also, ODOT will be repaving State Route 119 through the Village. This work will also be done during July and August and will create some traffic problems during construction. Please be careful as you travel these areas. As for other upcoming projects / work scheduled, the Village is planning to resurface Boundary Street from Butler St. to Elm St. and the block of S. Wayne St. from the stoplight to the alley by Brockman Furniture. We are also planning on doing additional culvert work/replacement on Sharpsburg Road this summer, which again will create a short period of time in which the road will need to be closed. A quick reminder, please do not throw your grass clippings out on the street whenever possible. This will help us keep the gutters and storm water receivers clean and avoid isolated flooding during heavy rain events. Also, please remember that Fort Recovery is enforcing the no open burning law as required by the State of Ohio. Thank you for your cooperation. A friendly reminder to make sure you check with Randy prior to starting any remodeling, construction, or concrete work to obtain a Zoning Permit as required. We continue to work with Insight Communications on the planned system rebuild / upgrade of the cable television and in getting all the service drops to homes buried. Should you have any problems with the cable please call 1-800-347-3381. If still not satisfied, give us a call at the Village Hall. As always we welcome your input and invite you to our Council meetings on the first and third Mondays of each month, 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall. If you have any specific concerns or questions, feel free to contact Randy, Mayor Wolf or any of the Council Members.
