  • Utility Aggregation

    When you set up your electric or natural gas accounts you will be given a standard rate which changes each month.  You have the option of contracting these rates with different suppliers.  You will still recieve your electric bill from AES Ohio and your gas bill from Dominion even if you choose to contract with a different supplier.  These contracts do not have a cancellation fee so if you decide you want to  contract with another supplier you may do so at any time.  When you call, tell them that you would like to join the Village of Fort Recovery Utility Aggregarion Contract.   Please have your bill in front of you as they will need your account number.  The new rate will not take effect until the next billing cycle.  


    ELECTRIC CONTRACT - After you receive your first AES Ohio bill you many call ENERGY HARBOR at 1-888-636-3749  to have your account contracted at the rate of .04999 cents per KWh until December 2024.


    GAS CONTRACT - After you receive your first Dominion bill you may call CONSTELLATION at 

    1-844-916-0135 to have your account contracted at the rate of $3.08 per gallon until October 2021.  


    If you would like to see other available contracts for your gas or electric service you can go to http://www.energychoice.ohio.gov.  This website is managed by the Ohio Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to offer residents choices for gas and electric suppliers.

Local Taxes

Income Tax

All residents of the Village of Fort Recovery must pay four type of income tax; Federal, State, School District and Municipal.

School District income tax is set at 1.5% and is collected by the State of Ohio. This can be electrically filed with your state income tax return.

Municpal income tax or also known as Fort Recovery Village income tax is currently set at 1.0% and is collected by the Village of Fort Recovery. When filing your Federal, State and School income tax return, please remember that the Village of Fort Recovery can NOT be e-Filed. Please contact the Income Tax Department for more information.

Real Estate Tax

If you own your house or any parcel in Mercer County, you are taxed on that parcel through Mercer County Auditor's Office. For more information regarding this tax, please contact their office at (419)586-6402

Special bags must be used for pick-up. The three different kinds of bags can be purchased at Wayne Street Market, Thobe's Carryout or Shell Party Mart.

Commercial Service

Commercial users may subscribe to other sanitation companies.

Annual Clean Up Day

In the early spring each year, normally on a Saturday, a clean up day is scheduled. A Maharg truck will pick up almost anything except a short list of items not allowed at the landfill. Watch for the schedule!
